How to Make Raccoon Cupcakes and Why Raccoons Are Such Interesting Creatures

Today we’ll show you how to make these delicious treats, and we’ll also take a closer look at why raccoons are so fascinating. So if you’re ready to have some fun in the kitchen, read on and learn about our raccoon cupcakes!

What are raccoons?

Raccoons are mammals that are native to North America. They’re easily recognizable thanks to their distinctive markings – they have a black “mask” around their eyes, and their fur is typically a mixture of black, brown, and white. Raccoons are very adaptable creatures, and they can be found in a variety of habitats including forests, marshes, and even urban areas.

Raccoons are interesting animals for a variety of reasons. They’re incredibly resourceful and are known for being able to find food in even the most unlikely places. They’re also very intelligent and have been known to solve complex puzzles. Raccoons are playful creatures and enjoy playing games and interacting with their human companions.

We love to go camping and have run into them a few times to the point where we are amazed by them. When we were camping in Indiana we came across a group that seemed like a well-oiled militia. I swear the leader was chittering instructions to the others as they worked their way through the campgrounds at night.

It amazes me how they know enough to be able to open a cooler, and even wash their hands (along with your soon-to-be stolen food) in the ice water inside that same cooler.

We certainly learned not to leave the dog food bowl out overnight – oops!

Are there really seven different species of raccoons?

Yes, there are seven different species of raccoons. The most common is the northern raccoon, which is found in North America and Canada. Other raccoon species include the crab-eating raccoon (which is found in South America), the ringtail (a small cat-like creature that is found in North America and Mexico), and the Cozumel raccoon (a small raccoon that is found only on the island of Cozumel off the coast of Mexico).

Do raccoons make good pets?

No, raccoons are not typically recommended as pets. They can be difficult to tame and may become aggressive if they’re not properly socialized. Raccoons also require a lot of care and attention, and they can be messy creatures.

Do raccoons get along well with cats?

There is an old wives’ tale that they are mortal enemies. It really depends on the individual raccoon and the cat. Some raccoons will get along well with cats, while others may be aggressive towards them.

How do you store Raccoon Cupcakes?

Here is the thing – with the more futzy designs, I like to make them in advance of an event or get-together. The best way to usually store your finished creations? Room Temperature.

Granted, they aren’t going to be around that long – my family of three could easily take them out in two to three days. Since you are using canned frosting instead of buttercream frosting or fondant, they should be fine for five to six days. You can learn more about that in our article How To Frost A Cupcake.
