With this simple DIY Clown Cupcake recipe you can make them at home, with your own children, or for any birthday party in need of a little more color and excitement!

– 1 cup all-purpose flour – 1 1/4 tsp baking powder – 1/8 tsp salt – 2 large eggs at room temp – 3/4 cup white sugar – 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into 1/2” cubes – 1/2 cup milk – the higher the fat content the better – 2 tsp vanilla extract – 1 1/2 tsp vegetable oil

To Decorate:  – Yellow cupcakes – Sugar Cones – White, blue, red, yellow frosting – Piping tip #18 for hat detail and piping tip #233 for hair – White chocolate chips – Red and orange skittles for noses – I like the red candy the best – Deco eyes – Multi-colored sprinkles – Red icing gel for mouth

Melt 4 oz of white chocolate in 30-second intervals, stir until smooth and pour into a tall enough glass to fit a sugar cone.

Dip sugar cone point side down into the melted white chocolate then tilt the glass slightly and roll the cone until completely covered – place on wax paper base side down to set.

Place a generous dollop of white frosting on each cupcake with an offset spatula.       Using tip #233 pipe red hair on half the cupcake.

Using tip #18 pipe small blue or yellow stars around the base of the cone, add sprinkles if desired.       Place cone on the cupcake at a slight tilt on top of the hair – add more hair at this point if needed.

On the white portion of the cupcake apply the deco eyes and skittle nose to make the clown face. Use the red gel icing to create a smile.       Use tip #18 to place a pom on top of each cone and add any other decoration desired on the front of cone – add more sprinkles if desired.
