Bear Cupcake Ideas
When looking at bear cupcake ideas, you may want to consider the following:
-What type of bear do you want to make? There are many different types of bears, such as teddy bears, polar bears, and grizzly bears. We loved these polar bear paw cupcakes we found on JoyfulXmas!
-What color bear do you want to make? Bear cupcakes can be any color that you like. However, traditional colors for Valentine’s Day are pink and red.
-Do you want to add any decorations to the bear cupcakes? Some people like to add hearts, flowers, or other Valentine’s Day-themed decorations. Others prefer to keep it simple with just the bear itself.
Once you have decided on the type of bear and the color, it is time to start baking!
Bear Cupcakes with Oreos
I have seen people make their bears out of Oreos. I think this is a great idea! Oreos are already a perfect little bear shape, and they are delicious. Plus, they are easy to find in stores.
However, I wanted something a little “more” for these and went with Reese’s peanut butter cups. It results in a sturdier look with a better finish, in my opinion.
Easy Teddy Bear Cupcakes For Baby Shower
These can easily be tweaked for a baby shower! Instead of using chocolate frosting, I would suggest setting your teddy bears on a blend of pink and blue frosting – or use the colors of the baby shower theme. Purple, yellow, light green – these bears would look so cute on any color for a baby shower!
Easy Teddy Bear Cupcakes
These adorable Bear Cupcakes can be made with a boxed cake mix instead of the recipe below for making them from scratch. I am just so used to making cupcakes from scratch that I don’t even have to look up the recipe anymore. Simply add a few pieces of candy and you have a treat sure to make your Valentine say “Awww…”
Teddy Bear Cupcake Recipe
These adorable bear cupcakes are extremely simple and easy to create.
Bear Cupcake Ingredients:
- 2 C sugar
- 1 3/4 C flour
- 3/4 C cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs, room temp
- 1 C whole milk, room temp

- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 C boiling water
How to make our easy teddy bear cupcakes
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line the cupcake tins with paper liners.
Whisk the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.
In another, smaller bowl, combine the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract.
Add this wet mixture to the dry ingredients, beating on medium until the batter is smooth.
Gradually add the boiling water, milk, and oil and blend together until the batter is smooth, be careful to not overbeat though or you will have little tunnels in your finished cupcakes.
Using a medium scoop fill the paper-lined cupcake tins with the prepared batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Allow to slightly cool before transferring to wire racks.
Chocolate Frosting Ingredients:
- 1 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
- 3 C + 1/2 C powder sugar
- 1/2 C cocoa powder
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3-5 TBSP heavy whipping cream
Chocolate Frosting Directions
Beat the powder sugar, butter, and cocoa powder together in a bowl.
Incorporate the vanilla extract into the chocolate until well blended.
Add in the heavy whipping cream, and continue to mix until stiff peaks form.
Place a piping bag into a large glass and fold the sides of the bag over the rim of the glass. Scoop the frosting into the piping bag. Bring the pastry bag edges up and twist them together to start decorating.
Add a large tip to your bag.
If you don’t have a piping bag, try a plastic bag with the tip snipped off. Frost the cooled and filled cupcakes.

Easy Bear Cupcakes
Use a dressed-up boxed cake mix.
How do you store Bear Cupcakes?
Here is the thing – with the more futzy designs, I like to make them in advance of an event or get-together. The best way to usually store your finished creations? Room Temperature.
Granted, they aren’t going to be around that long but your candy bears, on top of your cream-based frosting won’t last more than a day or two.
